Destinations

Shandong Airlines operates mainly domestic routes from Jinan, Qingdao and Yantai to major cities in China. These routes include Beijing Capital International Airport, Qingdao Liuting International Airport and Yantai Penglai International Airport.

Domestic destinations include Hefei, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guilin, Nanning, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Wuyishan, Xiamen, Lanzhou, Guiyang, Harbin, Luoyang, Hohhot, Changchun, Xining, Jinan, Jining, Linyi, Dalian and many others. In addition to domestic routes Shandong Airlines also fly to Cambodia, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

The Chinese carrier, which already serves destinations in Cambodia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand, now offers four times weekly non-stop flights on the 2,569-kilometre route between Kunming (KMG) and Delhi (DEL). Two of these four flights originate in Jinan (TNA) while the other two originate in Qingdao (TAO). These seven routes are operated by five different airlines and involve four airports in China and three airports in India.

Carry-on Baggage

Passengers travelling in first class and business class are permitted two personal belongings, with the weight of each item not exceeding 8kg.

Passengers travelling in economy class are permitted one personal belonging, with a weight not exceeding 5kg.

The dimensions of these belongings must not exceed the dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20cm.

 

Checked Baggage

Passengers travelling in first class are permitted 40kg of checked luggage.

Passengers travelling in business class are permitted 30kg of checked luggage.

Passengers travelling in economy class are permitted 20kg of checked luggage.

All items of checked luggage must not exceed 203cm, and must not be less than 60cm.

The Fleet

As of May 2022, Shandong Airlines operates a fleet of just over 130 aircraft, all of which are Boeing 737s. The majority of the fleet is made up of the Boeing 737-800 which can seat up to 167 passengers – the airline currently has around 124 of these. The rest of the fleet is made up of the Boeing 737-300s and 737 MAX 8s. Shandong Airlines also has 10 orders for the COMAC ARJ21-700 – a regional jet that has been manufactured by Comas, a Chinese state-owned aerospace company. Delivery dates for the COMAC are yet to be announced.

Shandong Airlines used to operate the Bombardier CRJ200 and CRJ700s in its fleet, however, these were retired in 2016 and 2017. Prior to this, it flew the Saab 340B which was retired in 2005.

Shandong Airlines has codeshare agreements with a variety of airlines that fly similar routes around China and Asia. The airline currently has codeshare agreements with Air China, Asiana Airlines, China Express Airlines, EVA Air, Qingdao Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Uni Air.

Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport is the main airport serving Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province in China. It is the hub airport for Shandong Airlines and has one runaway and can handle nearly 10 million passengers every year. Other airlines which fly to and from Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport include Asiana Airlines, Air China, Beijing Capital Airlines, Chengdu Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Chongqing Airlines, Hongtu Airlines and many others.
